Woman arrested for allegedly causing fatal crash in May

It's a tragedy any time someone is hurt or killed in a traffic accident. It's particularly horrible when the driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, because the accident was avoidable. In this case, it may have been, but there is no way to reverse the damage that has been caused.

A Baton Rouge woman has been found to be at fault and has been arrested for a fatal car crash that happened in May. According to an Aug. 17 update about the accident, the woman's blood test revealed that she had crack cocaine and cocaine in her blood at the time of the wreck.

The police determined that the 61-year-old woman was at fault for the crash that killed her passenger and hurt two people that she hit on Florida Boulevard. She had been driving west when she drove onto the cement median, hit a light pole and continued to drive into oncoming traffic. It was at that time that she impacted another vehicle and injured the two people inside.

The woman and her passenger suffered broken bones, but her passenger died from other injuries suffered in the collision. The woman now faces reckless operation, driving under the influence, vehicular homicide and vehicular negligent injuring charges.

Crashes like this one are avoidable. If you lose a loved one because of a drunk or drugged driver, you have a right to look into your legal options. With the right support, you can seek a claim and make sure the individual is held responsible for his or her actions.
