A Bossier Parish crash claims the life of a 33-year-old woman

A 7:40 p.m. crash along Louisiana State Highway 157 claimed the life of a 33-year-old Plain Dealing woman the evening of Monday, Oct. 16.

Witnesses to the fatal crash reported initially having seen a Peterbilt log trailer traveling southbound down Highway 157, a short distance south of Highway 2, in the minutes proceeding the crash. Within moments, witnesses noted that they saw the driver of that empty 2015 tractor-trailer stop and place the truck in reverse. They noted that it appeared as if he were trying to back it up in the eastern direction of Grey Circle at the time.

It's as the 60-year-old trucker was backing his truck up that it made contact with the decedent's Ford Taurus. She'd been traveling in her 2004 sedan in the northbound direction along Highway 157 at the time.

A preliminary investigation conducted by Louisiana State Police has shown that it's unlikely that the woman who was driving was restrained by a seat belt when she was struck. Police noted that the motorist suffered significant bodily harm in the crash. Bossier Parish emergency crews found her deceased upon their arrival on the scene.

As for the trucker, he reportedly didn't suffer any injuries in the crash. Police note that although it's not suspected that he was intoxicated at the time, he was cooperative in submitting to chemical testing to make sure.

When someone dies in a crash with a truck, he or she often leaves behind loved ones that depended on him or her for financial support and companionship. Oftentimes, they leave behind bills for medical and funeral expenses that must be paid as well. A Baton Rouge truck accident attorney can advise you of your right to recover both current and future expenses and earnings in your loved one's case.
